New Line of Pre-Tinned PCB Connectors Reduces Installation Time and Increases Reliability
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL, Oct. 22, 2020 – Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT), a division of Carlisle Companies Incorporated (CSL), has launched a new line of pre-tinned and embossed SMP and SMPM connector bodies for PCB applications that reduces cost and installation time while increasing reliability for those in the space and military & defense markets. These solutions prevent corrosion and oxidization and are ideal for complex, high-performance microwave systems where size and weight are primary concerns.
Designed to satisfy the demand for increased package density and reduced weight in microwave systems, CarlisleIT’s new embossed feature allows gases to escape when high heat is applied during the wave solder process, thus preventing the rapid expansion of trapped moisture that can physically damage the component. This defect, known as the “popcorn effect,” is difficult to recognize and can cause failure early in the product life cycle. These SMP and SMPM connectors can also withstand multiple engagement/disengagement cycles without degradation in electrical performance, making them the ideal interconnect solution for demanding applications and environments.
Other features include:
CarlisleIT has a long history of delivering innovative interconnect solutions and has worked closely with engineers in the space, aerospace and military & defense markets for more than 80 years. From component manufacturing to fully integrated engineered solutions, CarlisleIT has the capability and flexibility to support its clients’ unique needs.
