About Us

We’re a team of innovators, groundbreakers, collaborators, designers, builders, and problem solvers with 86 years of legacy behind us.

Our History: An 86-Year Legacy of Excellence & Innovation

Roots

Our story goes back to 1940, when Henry Dudley Minich founded what was then known as Tensolite. It consisted of a team of six researchers in a house in North Tarrytown, New York. They started out investigating the properties and commercial potential of various plastics and synthetic fibers and eventually built a reputation for producing the finest insulated miniature wire and cable in the industry and were among the first to use PTFE. In fact, the company’s first insulated wire product was used to electrically heat the gloves and flight suits of World War II Air Force pilots.

Growth

In 1959, Tensolite became part of Carlisle Companies, setting the stage for a legacy of innovation. By 1998, the need for comprehensive interconnect solutions became apparent, leading to the birth of Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CIT). A journey of expansion and acquisition began as CIT strategically added cable assemblies, RF/microwave and fiber optic solutions, structures, SatCom solutions, and custom engineering to its portfolio. This transformation solidified CIT as a trusted end-to-end partner across the aerospace, military, space, T&M, med tech, and industrial markets.

Today & Tomorrow

Now, as Amphenol CIT, our union with Amphenol Corporation amplifies global scale, engineering depth, and manufacturing agility. We solve the toughest connectivity challenges by developing high‑density, low‑loss, reliable interconnects for aerospace, defense, space, med‑tech, and industrial applications, while embedding sustainability through smarter material choices, energy‑efficient designs, and lifecycle thinking. Our commitment is to empower customers with technologies that advance innovation, reduce environmental impact, and build the infrastructure for tomorrow’s breakthroughs.
